Irish teenager wins global science award for removing microplastics from water

In 1,000 tests, 18 year old Fionn Ferreira was able to remove over 87% of microplastics from water samples. This is amazing news considering the high rates of contamination around the world and no viable filtering technology being used. Globally, the United States has the highest contamination of microplastics in tap water at 94%.
